Celebrate Earth Day: plant trees, protect the planet

The wellbeing of communities and people is deeply connected to the health and sustainability of our planet.

If deforestation and environmental degradation continue at the current alarming rate, we all suffer the consequences.

But Indigenous peoples and rural communities worldwide are already experiencing the devastating effects of climate change.

According to the recently published report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change:

  • Nearly half of the world’s population, between 3.3billion to 3.6 billion people, currently live in areas highly vulnerable to climate change.

  • In the next 10 years, climate change will drive nearly 132 million more people into poverty.

But, there is still hope.

To save the planet, we must put communities at the heart of the restoration fight to protect and improve their wellbeing and livelihoods.

There’s no greater time than now to come together to act against climate change! Investing in rural communities is ensuring environmental stewardship for generations to come.

This Earth Day you can double your impact for nature, biodiversity and people.

We’re taking part in the Big Give Match Fund to help us plant, promote and protect trees in partnership with communities. For one week, each pound you donate will be doubled.

Donate today and together we can help transform lives and restore degraded landscapes through sustainable community led forestry and agroforestry.

Planting a tree is a symbol of a looking forward action; looking forward, yet not too distantly.
— Richard St. Barbe Baker (Trees in the Environment, 1973)
