In Lundazi District, Zambia, deforestation is largely attributed to a dramatic increase in the cultivation of tobacco, cotton and maize. But the community strongly desires to reverse this trend through tree planting.

In Madagascar, ITF partner Ny Tanintsika are halfway through their project titled ‘Endemic Trees for Sustainable Agroforestry’, which aims to work with farming communities near the COFAV Rainforest Corridor.

We’ve recently expanded our tree planting to Northern Mount Kenya, bringing on board a new partner – Mount Kenya Trust (MKT). MKT will plant over 240,000 trees, restoring native forest.

The second year of the Fruit-full Communities Project got off to a flying start with the ‘Training of Trainers Day’ held on 12th April at DECSY in Sheffield.

ITF’s partner projects are funded from various sources, ranging from fundraising campaigns, legacies and monthly membership donations. But this year, one of our projects has been funded entirely from gifts at one couple’s wedding!

We are delighted to announce the start of a new project with the Community Empowerment Initiative Network (CEIN).

ITF's 20 Million Trees Campaign has completed its first season of planting, with 68,500 seedlings added to deforested land and farms around Embu County, Kenya. The campaign aims to plant 20 million trees by 2024 across Kenya's five Water Tower forests.

We are excited to announce that we have secured funding for a new project in Zanzibar! Aiming to increase the capacity of local communities in participatory forest management, the project will work on 10 villages around Unguja.

The Dom Community Food Forest project is being implemented in the Bamenda Highlands of Cameroon.
