Tree Planting Achivements in 2009
John Tuer the Tree Planting Organiser brings us news of this season’s plantings. The Shropshire and Montgomery Branch have planted on three sites this season despite the snowy weather! These included two schools and Severn Hospice who welcomed the new trees. In total they planted 362 trees including semi standards which required a lot of digging! Well done to all involved.
Visit to Arley Arboretum – Shropshire and Montgomery Branch are organising a visit to Arley Arboretum on Saturday 11th April meeting at 2pm.
Arley Arboretum is one of the oldest Arboretums in Great Britain. Tucked away in the beautiful countryside of the Worcestershire and Shropshire borders newar Bewdley, it boosts more that 300 species of trees in formal and informal plantings and gardens. The collection includes many rare and spectacular domestic and exotic trees. Nestling in the Severn Valley and overlooking the river, it has been growing and maturing in this idyllic setting for two centuries.
