Revival is an NGO located at the Community Development Centre in Lundazi, Zambia. Lundazi is 800km from Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia, and situated close to the Malawi border. Revival is therefore a rural-rooted organisation, established after research identified the challenges which the local community is facing. These include poverty and HIV/AIDs, which has led to the increase of orphans and vulnerable children, widows and vulnerable families.
Aims and Objectives
Revival’s aim is to transform communities for a better future. Their objectives include:
- Increasing awareness and understanding of gender and human rights issues amongst women, families and youths in the Lundazi District and further afield.
- Promoting self-reliance to vulnerable women and youths.
- To venture into income generating activities and use local available resources for organisation sustainability.
- To promote and strengthen seed work within schools and surrounding communities.
Revival has helped establish 70 women and youth clubs. Their involvement with human rights issues involved attending cases from local communities including 57 on gender-based violence, 20 on child defilement, 15 early pregnancy cases, 5 property grabbing cases, 10 land disputes and 45 torture cases. They have also carried out baseline surveys from two schools for permaculture programmes.
