Forestry Department of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization

The Forestry Department of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is responsible for data collection and analysis of the world’s forest resources, policies and legislation as well as outputs of forest and non-forest products. Their 5-yearly review Global Forest Resources Assessment regularly provides data and information on the world’s forests and forest sector, whereas the two-yearly publication State of the World’s Forests (SOFO) analyses issues and trends concerning the world’s forests. Both the Global FRA and SOFO are available on-line, as well as a wide range of other publications.

Commonwealth Forestry Association

The Commonwealth Forestry Association links foresters throughout the world, by means of the quarterly peer-reviewed journal the International Forestry Review, a Newsletter (also quarterly), a regularly updated website, training courses and awards. The website also includes access to Commonwealth Forests 2010, an on-line, authoritative review of the state off the Commonwealth’s forests and forestry sector, as well as a comprehensive database of Commonwealth NGOs with an interest in forest conservation and development.

Government Department responsible for the protection and expansion of Britain’s forests and woodlands.
