Tree-raising programme in Vellore District School Campuses
Through this project we raised, planted and preserved trees. Improvements in the learning environment for the local children and the knowledge and information gained continuously spreads among school children to others year by year. We planted 1650 saplings in 50 schools campuses with low cost fencing, watering and manure. 10 small level tree sensitisation programmes for the school children to gain awareness, protection and conservation of planted trees and the importance of raising trees and their significance.
Through these programmes we have created good rapport with School Teachers, Children, PTA and local public for the success of this programme. Implementation of a waste management and recycling concept towards clean and green schools environment.
Project details: The Eco Schools Project is managed by our partner The Green Trust who plant trees in 50 schools throughout the Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, South India. This forms part of an environmental education program and teaches the importance of trees to children and the general local community through practical work. Children carry the message back to their homes so the whole community learns the value of trees.

The Eco Schools Project supports teachers to coordinate tree planting clubs. So far, fifty schools have been trained in seed collection, tree planting and care to interested students and staff members. The trees are planted in the school grounds – providing shade, and products that can be used by the school and community.
