Founded in Kenya in 1922, International Tree Foundation (ITF) has worked for over 90 years to improve both the natural environment and people’s lives through community-led tree planting, agroforestry, forest conservation, advocacy and education programmes. We are currently working on an ambitious period of expansion, primarily in Africa and the UK, and we are looking for new Trustees with time, relevant experience, drive and enthusiasm to help guide this process through their skills and knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
- Forestry, agroforestry and agroecology
- Environmental conservation and education
- Sustainable development
- Community development and capacity building in African countries
- Income generation
We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic people, people from the African diaspora and women who are currently underrepresented on our Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees usually meets four times per year in central London or Oxford, with occasional sub-committee meetings and teleconferencing. This is a voluntary role, but out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. Trustees are elected by our members initially for a three year term.
The closing date for completed applications is Monday 3rd April 2017 at midnight GMT.
We are planning to hold interviews for shortlisted candidates on April 26th 2017.
