St George’s Wood, Forest of Cardiff
The Forest of Cardiff is an urban conservation and environmental project which started in 1988. It is a voluntary organisation set up to carry out tree establishment and urban woodland management with community involvement. All tree planting is normally carried out between the months of November and March, but especially during National Tree Week.
This new broadleaf woodland has been created from oak, ash, cherry, alder and a mixture of native shrubs and will eventually join up to existing mixed woods to the south of the planting site. The site covers approximately 4 hectares. There are no special visiting times as a public footpath runs through the woods.
