Centre For Alternatative Technology, Powys

CAT has working examples of environmentally responsible buildings, energy conservation, organic growing and waste management. You can visit CAT throughout the year. The displays, the gardens, Information Centre, restaurant and shop are open 7 days a week, year round, although do close over Christmas and early January. Certain features of the Visitor Centre alter depending on the season, so it’s worth taking these into account when you plan your visit.

When you arrive at the Visitor Centre you will see the reception area in the car park at the bottom of the cliff railway. Parking is free. There is a short low-gradient ramp to access the reception and railway. We offer free entry to the Visitor Centre for carers and £1 off the full adult price for people claiming disability allowance. Visitors ascend 180ft (60m) via a remarkable cliff railway, powered entirely by water-balancing. You can sit back and take in the magnificent mountain vista before exploring the inspiring array of exhibits.

The Dedication Book is kept in the Visitor Centre. Telephone 01654 705950. Visitor Centre call (01654) 702124 or 702048.
