Harelaw Wood – The Great North Forest
Harelaw Wood (in The Great North Forest)
The Family Tree Scheme woodland being created is a 13 hectare site next to the cemetery in Harelaw, just off the B6168 which runs through the village. It is being created partly on reclaimed land from an old colliery and partly on former grazing land. Footpaths are planned throughout the area which will also help link local communities and Public Rights of Way. Trees and shrubs such as Oak, Ash, Hawthorn, Hazel and Holly are being planted.Harelaw Wood offers the opportunity to make a personal contribution to the Great North Forest through the creation of a new woodland. Your donation will help redress the lack of trees from this ex-coalmining area.
