Association Malienne pour l’Appui et la Promotion des Initiatives Locales (AMAPIL)
AMAPIL or the Malian Association for the Support and Promotion of Local Initiatives is a community based organisation set up in 2005. It aims to become a model organisation providing agricultural and environmental support to disadvantaged communities. The organization works in three regions of Mali as well as in the district of Bamako. AMAPIL is developing its work on agriculture, the environment, education and climate change.
AMAPIL is a member of both Reso climat Mali and FECONG (Fédération des collectifs d’ONG). It has already created a Pôle d’Entreprise Agricole (PEA) or Agro Business Hub in Nossombougou as well as supporting market gardening projects in the towns of Nossombougou, Pentiérébougou and N’Golobougou in the Koulikoro region of southern Mali. These projects form part of its aim to improve awareness of environmental issues.
AMAPIL is now partnering with ITF to mobilise the community of Kodian village in Mali in tree planting and regeneration initiatives.
